The Founders Library, designed and built by
Albert I.
Cassell, FAIA, an African American architect, is an historical archives, a research and learning
center, and a modern gateway to global networked information.
I invite you to join
in a project to restore a limited number of original white oak reading tables,
solid cast bronze clocks and sconces, floor atlas, floor grand
clock, all designed by Cassell and built by African American craftsmen in 1938
and located permanently in The Founders Library.
Through this project, your name or that of a loved one will be immortalized by means of a cast bronze plaque, permanently mounted to “your”
special object in The Founders Library. You will make a lasting impression to the University and its students and become a living part of the spirit of Howard University
and its treasured heritage..
