| WASHINGTON,
DC, November 29, 1999--Howard University will hold its 1999
Christmas Candlelight Service on December 2 from 4-6 p.m. This
year’s event begins with a reception on the Main Quadrangle
with holiday music and a greeting from President Swygert.
Following a candlelight procession into
Rankin Memorial Chapel, the Howard Family will be treated to a
worship service by Laurence N. Jones, dean emeritus of the
School of Divinity, and performances from the St. Augustine Catholic
Church Gospel Choir, liturgical dancers, and the University
Chapel Choir, directed by Paul Gatlin.
During the event, Dr. James D. Tyms,
professor emeritus for Christian education, will receive a
special citation.
