2. Parking Lots
a. General
Parking
Friday, May 10, 2002
Elderly patrons may be dropped
off at Burr, but there will be no parking available.
Champagne Reception/ All Classes
Reunion and Luncheon - Blackburn Ctr. parking on Howard Center,
Banneker or Bethune lots.
School of Architecture and
design - Exhibit and Reception. (no special parking arrangements
requested.)
College of Medicine - Honors and
Oath Day - Parking on Howard Center, Banneker or Bethune Lots.
Parking for visiting guest will
be parking on the outer perimeters of the campus, Bethune Annex
Lot, Howard Center Lot, West Towers, East Towers, 8th
Street Lot, The 9th and V Lot, North Banneker Lot and South
Banneker Lot.

Open parking will be in the
outer perimeters of the campus, Bethune Annex Lot, Howard Center
Lot, West Towers, East Towers, 8th Street Lot, the 9th and V Lot,
North Banneker Lot and South Banneker Lot and the Hospital parking
garages.
Georgia Avenue will be open and
there will be limited parking.
b. Handicap
Parking (May 11, 2002)
Handicap parking is on the Miner
Parking Lot. The Miner lot is located beside the Johnson
Administration Building. The handicap should have a handicap
license plate, a handicap hangtag permit or a Howard University
Special Needs permit. Persons making arrangements for Handicap or
special needs parking can pick-up a special needs parking permit
from the Office of Parking & Shuttle Operations.
c. Press Parking
Media w/ graduation credentials
to unload by 7am @ gate #2 (Administration Bldg Gate). Media have
10 spaces on the Business lot. Excess media must park on available
general parking lots. Satellite trucks must park on the Childers
Lot.
3. Signage
- Look for Message Boards located
strategically around campus for alternate traffic patterns.
- Firelane signs are posted and
must be obeyed. Violators will be ticketed and towed. (Campus
Police)
4. Shuttle Buses
The Slowe-Carver Shuttle will
not be running.
The Intra-campus shuttle will be
rerouted to run from the Shaw/Howard University Metro-Rail station
to campus from 8am to 4pm
The class of 1952 will be
brought to campus on a charter bus. They are to come through
Howard Place to Sixth Street then disembark at the Douglas Hall
gate entrance.
5. Public Transportation
Commencement participants and
guests are strongly encouraged to use taxi-cabs and other public
transportation when traveling to Commencement events. Metro bus
stops are located on Georgia Avenue at entry points to the campus.
Metrobus and train schedules can be obtained by calling
202-637-7000. NOTE: Metro buses will be traveling through
Georgia Avenue. Taxi Cabs bringing guests will be allowed to enter
Howard Place and disembark passengers at the 2nd gate across from
the Administration Bldg.
